Event Details

Join us June 15th for the 2nd Annual BBQ Bash Competition & Fundraiser, hosted by the Union Sportsmen's Alliance. Union groups are encouraged to sign up to compete in the BBQ competition, and union members/families are invited to attend the bash for free. Teams will arrive on Friday for BBQ prep, then face off on Saturday for the title of "BBQ Champion." Event guests will cast votes in multiple categories, and prizes will be awarded to all winning teams. The family friendly event will also feature raffles, music, nature experiences, drinks, games, and attractions for children.

This event will take place outdoors, please plan/dress accordingly, and bring a pop-up tent in case of rain.

The Details: Teams will consist of one lead chef and no more than five (5) team members. Each team will be provided with up to 100lbs of fresh (unfrozen) meat upon check-in. Teams will supply their own equipment necessary for the preparation and cooking of their meat, including smokers, cookers, marinades, rubs, seasonings, pans, trays, utensils, etc. In addition to BBQ meat entries, Teams will be asked to serve a signature side dish and signature cocktail from their tent. Teams will also be encouraged, though not required, to create a team theme, decorate their tent, and/or dress up to match their chosen theme. Teams will be judged on these additional components and awards will be given to the best teams in each category.

USA will provide outdoor contest space (roughly 20'x20' in size), one 10’x10’ tent, and two 6-ft tables for use in distributing samples to event guests. Contest entries will be judged on Saturday, June 15th during the competition window of 1PM-5PM - contest entries can be presented at any time throughout the competition window. Judging will be done via a “people’s choice” popular vote managed by USA. Votes can be cast from 2PM to 5:30PM. Guests will cast votes in three categories: Best BBQ, Best Booth, Best Booze. The award ceremony will commence at 6:00PM.  The winning teams in each category will receive the following prizes:

BEST BBQ: Myron Mixon cooking class for two, including hotel room (dates TBD)
BEST BOOTH: BBQ smoker
BEST BOOZE: Party Pro Package (Orca cooler, alcohol, glassware, etc.)

Terms & Conditions

RE: USA BBQ Bash & Competition being held at Torstenson Youth Conservation Education Center (“Event”), on June 15, 2024.

IN CONSIDERATION OF being permitted to participate in the Event, the undersigned, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, hereby:

1. Acknowledges that the undersigned's participation in the Event may include activities that may be hazardous to the undersigned and assumes the risk of injury or harm associated with such participation. These risks include, but are not limited to, exposures to fire, knives, grilling equipment, hot grease, vehicular maneuvering, crowds of attendees, cooking and set up activities of other participants, and the like.

2. Whether within injurious activities are in the control of individuals associated with the USA or not, the intent of this Release and Indemnity Agreement is to acknowledge that any injuries caused, incurred or exacerbated while at, or as a result of being a part of, the event are forever discharged as to the Sponsor and its employees, officers, directors, shareholders, affiliates, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the "Releasees") for and from all liability, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses, actions and causes of action (collectively the "Claims") in respect of death, injury, loss or damage to myself or property howsoever caused, arising or to arise by reason of or during my participation in the Event, whether prior to, during or subsequent to my attendance and notwithstanding that any Claim may have been contributed to or occasioned by the negligence of any of the Releasees.

3. Indemnifies and saves harmless the Releasees from and against any and all liability incurred by any or all of them arising as a result of or in any way connected to my participation in the Event.

4. Understands and acknowledges that the Sponsor does not carry or maintain health, medical or disability insurance coverage for the undersigned and, therefore, Sponsor agrees not to assume responsibility for such insurance coverage on the undersigned.

5. Agrees that in the event that any provision of this Release and Indemnity is held to be invalid or unenforceable by any court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity or unenforceability of such provision will not affect the remaining provisions of this Release and Indemnity which shall continue to be enforceable.

6. I authorize the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance to use my photo, image, likeness and name in any promotional materials, both in print and online. I understand that no payment is due to me for such usage.
